Anthony’s mother died while he was at a very young age. This loss caused the Father, an unemployed carpenter, to care about Anthony a great deal, and have a hard time letting go. So hard in fact that he chose to sell everything and move his newborn son from Connecticut to a house on the Appalachian Mountains in northeastern Pennsylvania, without giving notice to any of his family. Those of which included Anthony’s Grandmother and Aunt, Anthony’s father hardly ever visited the rest of his family, and when he did he did not take Anthony along.

Anthony never had any formal schooling. When his father moved him to the Appalachian Mountains, he kept his son away from the schooling system. He raised him in the mountains, teaching him how to make it on his own. Teaching him everything, he would need to know to get by in life. When Anthony was about 10 their funds started to run low, so Anthony and his father decided to start a carpentry business. He and his father would work all day making furniture together, and at the end of the week Anthony’s father would go down to town, sell all the furniture and buy what they needed for the week. The business went very well, and that’s how they lived together for about six years. When Anthony was twelve his father had finally been able to let go of his dead wife, and he started dating women. He did this during his trips down to town each week, soon he started taking more and more trips down to town each week and Anthony was having more time alone. That was when Anthony first had crazy ideas that people were trying to take his father away from him, the more alone time that Anthony had the greater the stories. These ideas ranged from his father being kidnapped by a yeti, to his father being forced to do a secret mission for the government. Anthony’s father noticed how much Anthony did not like when he went to town, he felt bad so he had a television and cable installed in their house. This was Anthony’s only real portal to the world besides his father. He watched television every time his father went down to town, which by this time was almost every other day. Each day he used the TV to concoct intricate fantasies of what his father was doing.
One day Anthony’s father received notice that his mother had fallen very ill, and that he should come say bye while he had the time. He decided that Anthony would stay home. This trip would only take Anthony’s father about three days. The first and second day went alright, Anthony continued to make furniture and then in the evening he sat around the television concocting ideas of what his father was up to. However the evening of the third day Anthony watched the television as it told him that his father had died in a tragic car accident on Interstate 84. As Anthony saw that he realized that someone had stolen his father. He needed to get him back. He looked through his father’s personal possessions, and found a few letters, with return addresses in Connecticut. Anthony deducted that the people who took his father came from this place called Connecticut. He grabbed his fathers hunting knife, just in case he needed to protect himself from the bad guys like he saw on television, and he headed off. He managed to hitchhike his way into Connecticut, and into the town that the return address came from. Wandering around, he discovered his Aunts house, whom had sent the letter. At this point in time NM had on a red bandana like they guys from those karate movies wore, and he brandished the knife like the guys from those action movies he watched on television. Busting through his Aunt’s window he discovered her sitting in the kitchen eating. He ran over to her and put the knife under her throat just as he saw the good guys do to the bad guys when they wanted information. He asked to see the people who took his father. His Aunt had no idea who he was; she finally realized that this was her brothers son, whom she had not seen in over 15 years. She told Anthony that she was on the good side, and she would call the people who would take him to his father. She called the police, and they took Anthony away.
Not knowing Anthony’s real age, his aunt took custody of him. During the few months that they spent together in Connecticut, she noticed that he was a very strange boy. So strange in fact that she had him sent to a doctor, who then recommended some time at an institution named Cherry Hallow.
